A MYMACCAS APP GAME THAT KEPT CUSTOMERS DIVING BACK FOR MORE
McDonald’s Australia wanted to keep customers coming back to the MyMacca’s app and Macca’s restaurants over summer.
Our solution was the Macca’s Summer Prize Pool. Every time customers spent $10 on the MyMacca’s app, they received a pool pass to enter an interactive 3D pool park. There, customers could ride a virtual Summer Prize Pool slide to win various prizes, making the experience fun and rewarding while encouraging repeat visits and app engagement.
Summer Prize Pool experience walkthrough:
Sometimes, users had to wait for their pool passes to be processed. Nobody likes waiting, so to solve this we created a series of playful “the pool is closed” scenarios to keep things fun. These included a cheeky UFO trying to abduct swimmers, a colossal visitor taking up the pool, and lifeguards dealing with a mischievous giant squid—all paired with a message letting users know the pool was temporarily unavailable and to come back later.
Results (first week):
- Registrations: 240K, Pool Passes Awarded: 35K, Pool Passes Played / Prizes Won: 13K, % of Pool Passes Played: 38%
