HELPING HARVEY NORMAN STAFF GIVE THEIR SALES TARGETS AN UPPERCUT
Samsung wanted to motivate Harvey Norman sales staff to prioritise selling their products, but the challenge was creating an engaging way to drive enthusiasm among mostly apathetic staff.
Our solution was the Samsung Retail Rumble—a live mobile game that pitted Harvey Norman stores against each other across Australia. Stores competed to sell the most Samsung products, with weekly prizes and a grand prize for the top state winner. This gamified approach sparked healthy competition and successfully boosted sales staff motivation.
CTA posters:
To get Harvey Norman staff hyped up for the Rumble, we created CTA posters featuring each store’s regional leader looking as though they had just been in a tough fight. These posters were sent to participating stores to be displayed in sales staff areas and were an instant success. Eighty percent of our target audience registered on the mobile app in the first week.
Mobile Game App:
Sales staff could arrive for their shift and get all the extra motivation they needed to sell Samsung products through the mobile game. The live dashboard page would show them exactly how far they were from achieving their sales results. With only a limited number of prizes available each week, users had to be quick. A live prizes page would display how many weekly prizes were still up for grabs. Additionally, a leaderboard page would show how a user’s store ranked in the state. State winners would win a grand prize for all of their store staff.
Results:
- 100% of the targeted Harvey Norman staff in NSW registered to play.
- Samsung sales increased across the state for the duration of the competition, with most stores exceeding their targets.
- JB Hi-Fi heard about the Harvey Norman Rumble and threw their hats in the ring for the following year.
